Greetings:

It's spring cleaning time. I am home from work stuck in a Blizzard
here in Minnesota.

I just finished up completely refurbishing two Large Vintage Studios
and I have a number of Power Supply CAP kits I have put togather for
a variety of Yamaha Gear, plus a few other items for sale. Everything
goes to e-bay as soon as I have time so see if you can use anything
here.

I am selling the CAP kits for my average cost plus postage. Each kit
contains all of the CAPS needed for a single power supply. All the
CAPS are brand new, FRESH, Exact OEM, with the exception that they
are High Temp 105C, Long Life and Low Ripple versions. I will
include instructions and a photo for reference. Please have a
qualified tech do the work. With correct parts in hand, it should
not cost more than $50.00 for the labor, and well worth it. The DX-
I's and II's I rebuilt are Dead Quiet after the PS upgrade.

I have limited supply and won't be stocking any more unless I get
another contract to do this again -- or there is sufficient interest
here. It's too much hassle. I can upload a spread sheet with all of
the electronic components, part numbers and suppliers for all of the
gear I worked on if people are interested. I can also just email it
to you and you can go find your own parts. I shopped around and
bought in bulk so you most likely won't do any better on your own --
many came from Japan and were pretty expensive.

I have CAP Kits for the following:

DX7-I 6-available
DX7IIF/D 6-available
TX802 4-available
SPX90I-II 6-available
KX88 1-available
DEQ7 1-available
FX900 2-available
FX770 2-available
DMP-11 3-available

I may have others. Just ask.

I also have three SPX90 MK-I Effects processors for sale. These have
the PS rebuilt, new battery with holder, latest V1.2 ROM, new
grounded power cord, all cleaned, bench tested and meet factory
specs -- face and controls are perfect. Cases have various scratches.

I rebuilt 15 or 20 of these. The others that were the MKII version
or were upgradable to MKII were retained. Some were junk so some
spare parts are available.

Using one of these on a DX7-I or one or two on DX7II/TX802 will blow
you away. Adds all the effects Yamaha forgot to include. A pile of
effects, 90 some patches, MIDI controllable -- look it up!

Come to think of it. There are two DX11's I can get rid of. One
appears to be litterally brand new with original box, packing,
manuals, service manual, cassette cable, etc, etc, and a custom hard
case. If I recall there is a basically New FB01 too!

The other DX11, I am not sure about. I have not had it on the bench
to look it over -- I will! I am open to offers. We would have to
figure out the shipping. The case alone weighs a ton if you wanted
it.

Let's see what else. A MFD1 with several Quick Disks. A brand new
Route66 Floppy Drive for a DX7IIFD -- didn't need it. A used Sony FD
that may work in a IIFD.

There may be a DX7-I and a DX7II available also. I will have to find
out. All equipment has been on the bench and completely cleaned,
serviced and upgraded -- By Me -- unless I say otherwise.

I also have a variety of DX11/21, etc, DX7I and DX7II parts available.

The CAP kits are $15.00 plus $2.50 for Bubble Pack and postage in the
USA. The SPX90's $125.00 plus $20.00 for packing and UPS to USA.
FYI -- Everyone of these needed the PS rebuilt. They run hot and all
the CAP's had leaked or were leaking. You won't do better on E-Bay
for junk or one that needs a rebuild anyway. These should go another
20 years sans a lightning strike.

I may entertain a PS rebuild on any gear for you. $25.00, plus
parts, plus Shipping. I may have some rebuild PS's for exhange. I
don't recall for what -- way too many projects and too much stuff.

Other parts on request, but cheap -- if I have it -- just ask, I
cannot remember everything -- a lot less as time goes on:-)

I accept Check, MO, PayPal. I have an E-Bay rating of 100% for over
300 transactions and can be trusted. Everything garanteed or your
money back less postage.

For Offers, go to E-Bay, Search for the item, then search
on "Completed Auctions" on the left column to find out a resonable
price. As I mentioned before, all this stuff, and anything else I
find in the shop or the studios that is not needed goes to E-Bay
soon. No Resonable offer will be refused.

Contact me off line if you are interested.

Hi,

How much would be economy shipping to Estonia (Europe) for 2-3 cap kits?
Would one of those kits 'fit' TX81Z? Does the TX802 have the same or
'similar enough' PSU than TX81Z?

Thanks,
Margus Kliimask
Tallinn, Estonia

BTW, what do you mean by 'upgradable to MKII' in context of SPX90? By
looking at the specs I see the only difference between those two is the
memory chips. So I'm wondering whether swapping the 16K chips for 64K ones
and replacing the firmware would do it? Are there any more differences (I
only have the schematics for 90 MKI, not MKII, and it looks like the DSP
chip is the same, the DRAMs do not require more data lines so it should be a
matter of what the firmware tells the DSP to do - am I wrong?)

Greetings:

1) Do me a favor and go to www.usps.com, or www.UPS.com,
www.FedEx.com and lookup the shipping from Zip Code 55125. I suspect
that it would be about 1lbs -- 1/2Kg or so.

2) SPX90's. There are actually three versions. The MK-I came in two
version with different Rev. System Boards -- actually totally
different part numbers. The early model has one system board part
number XA405 up through Rev D. If I recall and the late model has the
same system board as the SPX90II, an XB667 system board.

If I recall from the schematic, the difference is either an addition
of IC 132, a SN74HCO2N, an OR Gate, to the digital section and the
way it is connected in the Analog section in the A/D, D/A converters.

Otherwise I THINK the difference between a MKI and a MKII with the
XB667 system board is that it allows longer delays and that is
provided by the V1.2 EPROM

I have not worked on a TX81Z so I cannot comment on what components
it uses and I don't have a service manual. My guess, there are
differences. Also, 220V Euro Power Power Supplies ARE Different.
Generally...... They double up the big CAP on the high voltage side
of the PS. Again I don't know. The first DX7 as a basic power
supply. Nothing even interesting. The MKII, SPX and a lot of other
gear has switchers.

Peter

Fascinating. Sadly, I'm usure what most if means! Was wondering if
you had the batteries used in the dx7, dx9, or the tx816. Thats all
I'm looking for personally (other than cx5m cartridges) though I am
curious as to what you want for a spx90? I'm new to the whole Yamaha
midi adventure, but I've jumped in head first, and as if I hadnt
expected it, I'm in way over my head!
