Post by db00451I've been trying to convert OPM files to TX81z patches for a whie now.
Will DXconvert work for that?
No it will not, sorry. DXconvert converts to DX7 format, not to TX81Z
(DX21, V50, FB01, etc.) 4-op FM format. But this is very high on my TODO
list. Converting OPM files for use with 4-op FM Yamaha synths makes much
more sense than converting to 6-op DX7. Personally I want to be able to
convert my OPM file collection to load in my DX100.
Not sure if you've done much more on it, but this is a great idea. I would love to be able to convert OPMs almost directly
for use on an FB-01. In a previous message, you said the formats are very similar. As glad as I am that there's a way to
convert OPM to DX (and subsequently to SY, etc.), using them on the FB-01 or a similar architecture feels more authentic
(or just more retro :P).
Yes, DXconvert has been developed sincde then:
- The package these days also includes "TXconvert". TXconvert was created
to convert with the 4-op FM synths as target
- The latest version (2.1.x) introduced FB01 export. And yes, now you can
convert OPM directly to FB01 sysex :-) For that to work you need to use
txconvert and use "--yamaha=fb01" as commandline option, or select FB01 in
the GUI version.
Just give it a try:

(or wait a few days for version 2.1.2 "dedicated to Renata" )
