From what you describe, the QY 10's internal lithium memory battery
may be gone. The normal 'battery low' indicator only is for the AA'sfor main power. The good news is that ROM is uneraseable.
Will your QY play the Demo ? [song] mode ===> to S1-8 ==>DM and
recorder > play button
Maybe not if the others didn't work. But a reset can still be done
along with some other tests.
Here are tricks from the service manual:
Turn on, wait a couple secs, hold [MENU] [ENTER], and [ ^ ]
(octaveup) keys.
should get [ QY10 TEST Vx.xx ]
press [ - ] key
you will get [ 00: TEST NO. ? ]
There are 01 - 09 test numbers. ( enter with the 0_ first ) then
press Enter
01 System Ram test
02 RAM Backup Battery test
03 LCD all dots on & off press [ + ] to end it
04 All Switches test - shows MENU as the first button to press and
all others follow. push 'em all
05 MIDI test use cable from MIDI in to MIDI out
06 Wave ROM test
07 PCM sound output ...listen on out jacks L tone R quiet (
H'fone and line )
08 PCM sound output " L quiet R tone
09 Factory Set Test [ 09 FACT SET ] press "enter"
The factory reset is test 09, which erases anything in memory and goes
back to initial factory settings.
(All you needed was 09, and maybe 02, but the others are good to have
also.)
10 EXIT
If you get lost just do it again. You can't hurt anything except for
the reset in 09.
